Random Things
Hey guys. Sorry for not posting yesterday. I was involved in an accident yesterday where I was hit by a pickup truck in my company’s parking garage while walking. I am fine, docs say there’s no fractures or much going on, but I am home today because I’m honestly still in quite a bit of pain. Will spend the day cleaning up and doing pilates.
Couple things:
- I want to write a piece about not having your desires sidetracked by your vagina. There’s a lot to it, and a lot of it is from my personal experience.
- Been getting a lot of Rebekkah’s story written.
Coming along really nice. - I might take the time today to braid my hair up after I start packing some more.
There’s other things that I want to write about but I’m a little out of it right now.
Time
I’ve been gone for a little bit. Probably not as long as I think I’ve been gone, but I guess I should update this.
I’m likely about to be moving here in a bit, so if you don’t see me for awhile that’s what I’m busy doing. I’ve been contemplating scaling back the amount of time I’m electronically connected to the internet, trying to determine how I’ll do that in a number of ways. One of them is possibly not having internet connected at home. Since I was younger I’ve had a bad addiction to the internet, and while I’ve managed to break a lot of it, Facebook was killer for me. Hurt a lot.
What else…?
The Oslo incident is my current mental/social pre-occupation as of late. It’s inspired me to write something in the Destined universe around it, but I’m not sure what as of now. I don’t want to end up cheapening whatever it is that may result. Mostly around the concept of a whisper turning into a murmur and evolving from that.
I really am excited about Destined and the amount of progress that it’s making, though I do worry about the fact that all my focus just seems so fragmented. I’m not sure what I want to spend the bulk of my time with anymore. I just want to do it all which ends up with nothing being complete. Maybe I’ll get back to working a project to completion and then celebrating it somehow.
That would be cool.
My web design has been stalled. I need to finalize that and get to coding since August is just around the corner.
Unfiltered thoughts leak out of my hands like sand through a beach. Is that cliche enough for you?
Anywho. That’s it for now. The stream’s run dry.

There is a topic that has come up a few times now on a Facebook page that I read from, and I want to take a moment out to address it here, once and for all: the notion that if a man wants a “dime piece” hot chick, he has to pay for her upkeep, even if they aren’t married. I have two questions: why should he, and what relationship-seeking woman in her right mind would agree to this arrangement?

Importing Friends from Facebook into Google+
For everyone who doesn’t know, Facebook is running a little scared of Google+, and has blocked off at least one app that helps you import and invite your Facebook friends to Google+. I’ve got a way around that, though. To transfer your friends from Facebook to Google+, you can use Yahoo’s Import Friends from Facebook option. Here’s how you do it.

Site Redesign and W3C Standards
Hey everybody. Like the last entry said, I am working on a redesign for my site. I apologize for any confusion it’s caused to any of you. It seems like I haven’t designed a website in forever – part of it is due to a fear of rejection and things of the sort. I have been learning, though, that my failures are not failures of person, and that they are moreover resultant of a few things:
- I have not been improving my web design skills and studying to keep up with the current technologies. My colleagues have been teaching me a lot about this and the importance of not only being good at something, but continuing to improve yourself and your skills. You can be good and average, but in a field like technology where things are always updating, you have to update yourself, too.
- I have been resistant to include ideas outside of my own. I have had a petri dish that is Tearyne and nothing else, and I thought it was good enough. People being amazed by my work was enough, so why did I have to get better? When I have been exposed to other ideas and compared to other service providers, inevitably, those who have shown a willingness to learn and grow have beaten me out. That is the nature of this, and if I want to stay viable, I have to be willing to compete.
This all said, I am finally getting around to learning and incorporating W3C design standards into my work. I feel like since I haven’t really designed or coded anything much in the last year, I’ve gotten rusty, but I’m betting that it’s a lot like riding a bike again after a long time; I just have to get back into the swing of things.
I’m hoping to have the new site up by the beginning of August.

Google has unleashed its social networking response to Facebook, named Google+. Apparently this has been in the works for awhile, and while just about everyone is going to start drawing comparisons between Google+ and Facebook, there’s a fundamental reason why they’re different: their focus.
