Avoiding Work and Staving off Lonliness

I’m playing in makeup and messing with my hair right now. Avoiding working on my paper, which I told you that I’d write about but still haven’t yet. I don’t know. It’s kind of hard for me. I like attention and hanging out with people; I didn’t get that much in high school, then I got it in college, and now I’m addicted to it.

I tried asking one of my friends — who I guess is sick — about hanging out today. This is the same friend who admitted to me that since I have a boyfriend, she doesn’t hang out with me. I was mad when she said that she was in another city (which is obvious, because that’s where she lives) and couldn’t.

I don’t know. I shouldn’t expect friendship out of anyone anymore. I don’t know why I keep doing it, because it’s stupid of me and it leads to more pain and heartbreak and me being upset with myself and disappointed when people let me down. But inevitably, they’re going to do that.

I should be spending two hours plus every day in the gym, working on my physique. But I get down about that. I feel like the prettier and more confident in myself I get, the less people want to hang out with me or be around me. Was I a much more attractive option when I was much less attractive? The ugly duckling?

Still don’t know. Still writing to get my frustrations out. At this point all I can do is write and have fun with myself and laugh. I’m pretty bemused right now — I was doing my makeup, trying to emulate a really cute, sexy look, and I drew my eyebrows on with black liner.

WHICH LOOKS RIDICULOUS.

But then I mussed up my hair a bunch, and now I look like Rufio (kinda sorta yes) from Hook. You know, the movie with Robin Williams.

Who am I writing to? Who really reads this thing, anyway?

Still writing.

Still alone.

I think I’ll always be alone, save family. It bothers me, but it doesn’t. It keeps fake people away from me. I’m still doing the quid pro quo thing on people. Sometimes I want to return to being the nasty, horrendous monster that I was in 2007. Judgmental and torrential and tyrannous. I hung out with a bad group back then. They were not the best people. I came to realize that they made fun of me more than they were friends to me.

But at least I was cool and in when I was with them. We were all self-loathers, I think. We made ourselves feel better by putting other people down. Man, did that feel good.

Stream of consciousness writing, I believe, is what this is called.

Even now I’m watching that damnable (I don’t think that’s a swear) Facebook notification counter, trying to see if anyone’s taken note, if anyone’s noticed me or what I’ve said or done.

I want to be noticed.

The stream stopped there for a second.

And now it’s done.

The Need to Write

While sitting in the parking lot of a grocery store, waiting to finish a buisness transaction, I realized something: all of my life, I have been a writer. I wrote stories. I wrote plays. I wrote video games. I had a livejournal, a greatestjournal… all of that.

Now I don’t write anymore, or hardly.

I don’t reflect. I needed that reflection, because it kept me sane. The feedback helped, too. I’ve been trying to use facebook to satiate that same need, but it doesn’t work. I get feedback, sometimes, but I have to write my thoughts in 400 character or less blips (140 on twitter) that don’t nearly have the same depth as journaling does.

Facebook will be my way of sharing my writings. It’s shallow, and therefore deserves shallow usage. I’m going back to writing and reflecting. I am working on a research project that details the connection between the rediscovery of King Tut’s tomb by Howard Carter in 1922 and its influence on the works produced during the Harlem Renaissance. All this time, I’ve been trying to start researching with articles, but (as you’ll see in the next post), I’ve been doing the whole process upside down.

Which means that I need to figure something else out for this blog. Fitness in the Round is just too general. I’m also trying to fight out my dietitian/art historian dilemma. Can’t I do both?

Bitterness and Resentment

So I am having a bad day.

I am coming to a bunch of conclusions, to be detailed in this entry, but in short, the only people who are ever getting gifts from me are immediate family and integral persons to my success (such as my financial advisor, my car mechanic, my lawyer, photographer, etc.), unless you are

a: getting married
or
b: having a baby

That’s it. No-swear-vember keeps me from voicing the rest of my thoughts that are on the tip of my tongue, but that’s alright. I need to be able to articulate my thoughts in an intelligent way. The over-giving, over-caring, and overly-considerate part of me needs to die before it kills me.

I am officially embarking on my quest to be classy. This month, November, I’m calling No-Swear-Vember, and I’m going to do my best to not utter a SINGLE swear word this month.

NOT A ONE.

Review: Fat Burn Cookies from Oxygen Magazine

They are awesome. =] The cookies are just sweet enough, with just enough cinnamon and walnuts and chocolate chips to make them satisfying. I thought it was really weird to put cottage cheese in a cookie, but that with the oatmeal gives it a GREAT texture. I am really enjoying them. Two of them is 98 calories, too, so you can’t really go wrong. A lot of the ingredients are clean ingredients that have been shown to pump up fat burn, so they’re actually good for you. I chose to use dark chocolate chips in mine, and that has some anti-oxidants.

One thing, though: make sure you get the chocolate chips evenly distributed throughout the mix, elsewise you can end up with some cookies without it, and they can tend to taste a teensie bit bland when that happens. I’m a baker — I LOVE baking — so finding the recipes in this issue was a godsend.

I’m jotting down this note. Just realized that this is a viable career solution, as opposed to working at a private club.

HOORAH! I get to write about food.

Today a bunch of assignments for writing about foods for the holiday popped up on a site that I write for. I’m so pumped! I love to write about food. Guess I’ll be busy this afternoon. =] And weekend! I could finally give let go of “How to build a flatscreen TV”, haha.

In fitness related news, I bruised the snot out of my hamstrings on Wednesday in my Pilates class… I think it’s related to the fact that I forgot to eat breakfast, and my body just wasn’t ready or fueled for exercise. Ouch. Was hobbling around all day yesterday.
